Literature Text

Look around
Listen to the sinners disperse
Their fetid pulse betrays them
Silent prayers echo through the emptiness
Hidden desires soon fulfilled
Their insipid scents draw us near
Can you feel it inside?
Do you hear the banquet calling to us?
I know you do
Come my flock; follow me
Our congregation must partake in this communion

Mighty Melek Taus
Thank you for enlightening our journey
Opening your mouth to reveal the true path of righteousness
Did you leave the malefactors for us?
Or did you devour them for desecrating your sanctity?
We pray to thee for guidance
Protect us as we pass through your depths
The search for the prophesized one leads us this way
Our journey to Mecca nears an end
Only there, may our true providence be revealed
Only there, will heaven be rebuilt

Look around
Listen to the silence
Through the horizon, I can sense another amongst the serpents
Can you feel him too?
His pheromones also betray him
His young heart calls to me for salvation
Yet, the cravings flowing through his veins are strong
It is he, whose baptism upon the embers of darkness has been foretold
Unborn, yet already in league with our father
At last, a righteous apostle will ascend to the throne
At last, our mighty general will rise
This poem was written for the Week 2 challenge at NaPoWriMo. I decided to continue to stay away from the tanka challenge and dive back into some apocalyptic writing.
